I am moving off of gaecoscapes.tumblr.com. I think I will still post things here, but they are going to be more Farm based now. We have been fortunate enough that some friends have let us use their land to start our farm, so I’m going to start the Farm Blog that I wanted to do in the first place. I can’t wait to start making videos, and to show you what we have been doing out...
My compost piles are coming along nicely, and they are going to go a long way to restoring the natural minerals and micro-organisms to the soil. The only thing left to add to them is some Kelp. I have a lot of fun working on the farm and I think the videos will let you know why. Till next time, Keep it Green. Jason

Today on Ga ECOSCAPES I will show you how to grow some Lemon Trees. This is an ongoing show. We cover everything from cutting the seeds out of an organic Lemon to repoting the seedlings in a larger pot for the window seal made from a reused plastic mayo jar. We have gotten organic seeds for free, we reused egg carton for a seed starter, and we have reused plastic mayo jars for this project. We...

Water your lawn for FREE
Grey water is defined as water that is not fit to drink, but doesn’t contain any solid or toxic waste. Lets talk about how much Grey Water a typical house hold sends to the Sewage Plant. First on the list is a 5 minute shower. According to Answer.com a 5 minute shower can flush 7-8 gallons of water down the drain with a low-flow shower head or up to 20 gallons with an older shower head. ...

Salvaged and reclaimed materials for landscape...
A lot of landscape is putting borders, edgings, and retaining walls around garden areas. Buying landscaping timbers or lumber from your local home improvement store can prove to an expensive venture. I have been researching some greener ways to accomplish these tasks. A couple of books to look at are “Sustainable Landscaping for Dummies” and “Organic Farming”. Some...

I hope you enjoy the show, and I hope you will be able to build your own set of bins. If you are in the Atlanta area and want some help send me a message. If you build them send me some Pictures. Till nest time.

Keeping your Lawn Green →
The time is getting close to fertilize your lawn. Try using Compost instead of industrial fertilizer. Fertilizer can damage local waterways when it runs off from the lawn. Compost is a natural alternative, and it is easy and cheap to make. You can use your own garbage to create enough compost to fertilize your lawn twice a year. A small 4 foot by 4 foot space can be more than enough space to...
Beltline chooses design partners for 22-mile loop... →
I know I’m not the first to talk about the Beltline project in Atlanta, but this is an article that talks about a company building the Beltline. The company Perkins and Will is a company committed to Green design and Sustainability. I have checked out their website, http://www.perkinswill.com/work/atlanta-beltline.html , and found their website and designs to be very modern. Their...

These guys are a little extreme in their Ecological viewpoint, but they do have some good ideas about how to stay green and save green. Check out some of their blog on composting and gardening.
Gardening tips →
Skip over the part about butterflies and go to the gardening tips. I like the tip about planting Basil next to Tomatoes to keep away pests. I love the ideas that use nature to help out. You can also plant peas next to corn. The corn offers a natural structure for the peas to climb, and the peas put nitrogen into the soil for corn. Planting squash there too will provide shade to keep the roots...
Gardening and Landscaping Made Easy | Gardening... →
This a good site for people who enjoy Tomatoes and fresh herbs. Herbs can make great container gardens on the patio, or near a door. They smell good, taste good, and look good too.

I had a lot of fun putting together this video blog. I got to cook and do some work in the yard. I had to cut it way down to put it up here, but I hope it is still ok.
Cedar Plank Tilapia, Planting Lemon Trees, and...
Today I worked on a video blog I will try to get out by the end of the week. I smoked some Tilapia on a cedar plank with some corn on the cob. Now I know that doesn’t sound anything like a video blog for Eco Landscaping. I promise I tied it all in. First we raked up the grass clippings into a nice big pile, because we are going to add the corn husks to those after dinner. That will...
Grass Clippings for Compost
Why would you want compost anyway? Well compost is the natural alternative to using fertilizer. Mixing compost into the soil of flower beds or gardens yields amazing results. Most compost you buy at the store is a by-product of one industry. For instance cow manure from cattle farms, grass and leaves from lawn services, or plants left over after a farm has harvested his crops. Want you...

Ga Ecoscapes a new begining
My name is Jason Parrish. I grew up on a farm in a small town in Alabama. I studied Engineering at Auburn University, and I obtained an MBA. I spent time in the semi-conductor industry, before trying my hand at running my own financial business. None of this was completely satisfying to me. I say completely because I was very thrilled about running my own show. I have been a stay...
